The new chair of Gabon’s Autorité de régulation des transports ferroviaires (ARTF) officially assumed his duties following a handover ceremony held in Owendo, succeeding François Banga Eboumi.
Former Housing Minister Ludovic Megne Ndong now leads the regulatory council, tasked with supporting the implementation of the latest strategic directions set for the institution. He specifically stated his intention to enforce the provisions of the ordinance that reorganises the ARTF’s operations.
He also aims to strengthen dialogue with social partners and institutional staff to enhance the authority’s functioning and improve team working conditions. Among the announced priorities are the redeployment of inspection teams and the resumption of checks along the Transgabonais railway corridor, between Owendo and Franceville.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Minister of Reform and Relations with Institutions François Ndong Obiang and ARTF Executive Secretary Adrien Moukabi. This appointment comes amid a series of ongoing reforms in the railway sector.
