Madagascar’s leader colonel randrianirina concludes insightful Gabon visit

On the second day of his official tour in Libreville, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, who presides over the Refoundation of the Republic of Madagascar, embarked on a comprehensive exploration of several iconic landmarks within the Gabonese capital on Saturday, June 6. Accompanied by Hermann Immongault, Gabon’s Vice-President of the Government, the Malagasy leader’s itinerary included the prestigious Cité Émeraude, the scenic Baie des Rois, and the significant Cité de la Démocratie. During his stop at the latter site, Colonel Randrianirina thoroughly toured the grand banquet hall, the expansive Palais des Congrès, and the renowned Omar Bongo Ondimba museum.

Following this intensive “touristic marathon,” the head of Madagascar shared his conviction that the developments he witnessed in Gabon are a powerful testament to Africa’s ongoing transformation. He articulated that these achievements unmistakably demonstrate the resolve of African leaders to modernize their respective nations and accelerate their progress. “Everything I have seen in Gabon truly illustrates the collective will of numerous African presidents to modernize and advance their countries and the broader African continent,” he affirmed. While not advocating for an exact replication of the Gabonese model, acknowledging that “the processes are not identical,” Colonel Michaël Randrianirina expressed profound admiration for the tangible results achieved by Gabonese authorities throughout their transitional period.

He further remarked that some of Gabon’s accomplishments, once considered challenging or even impossible within such a condensed timeframe, have indeed been realized. Consequently, he declared his intention to draw valuable lessons from Gabon’s experience to effectively support the refoundation process currently underway in his own country.

“We will endeavor, as you mentioned earlier, to learn from Gabon to successfully guide Madagascar’s refoundation process, so we can lead the country to a presidential election as swiftly as possible,” he emphasized. His clearly stated objective is to steer Madagascar toward presidential elections in the shortest possible timeframe. Colonel Michaël Randrianirina departed Libreville yesterday, in the late morning.
