A French diplomat, apprehended in August 2025 by the military junta and facing charges of conspiracy against national institutions, has been sentenced by the criminal chamber of Mali’s specialized counter-terrorism court.
Malian judicial authorities have imposed a 20 year prison sentence on a French intelligence agent. This individual, who held diplomatic status, has been detained for nearly ten months in the capital city of Bamako. The conviction, for “undermining state security” in the Sahelian nation currently governed by a military junta, was delivered by the criminal chamber of the specialized counter-terrorism unit.
