The Forces Armées Maliennes (FAMa) recently concluded a crucial mission, providing escort and security for civilian vehicles along the strategic Kayes – Sandaré – Diéma – Bamako road corridor. This operation, carried out from June 23 to June 29, 2026, aimed to bolster safety on this essential transportation artery in Mali.

The operation commenced with an initial FAMa detachment accompanying a convoy of 540 civilian trucks from Kayes to Sandaré. Simultaneously, a second military contingent set out from Diéma on June 23. This group rendezvoused with the initial convoy at Sandaré, subsequently taking charge of the 540 trucks and integrating numerous other vehicles that had been awaiting onward movement at Sandaré.

Following the consolidation of vehicles at Diéma, the expanded convoy, now totaling 940 civilian trucks, proceeded under the vigilant protection of the FAMa. The journey encompassed passage through Sebabougou, Kwala, Diédiéni, Kolokani, and Kati, culminating in a safe arrival in Bamako, remarkably free of any significant incidents.

This successful undertaking highlights the FAMa’s unwavering commitment to securing vital road networks. Such operations are integral to their ongoing mandate to protect road users and ensure the unhindered flow of traffic and goods across the entire Malian national territory.
