Maroc and uae forge strong strategic ties for shared growth

The partnership between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates stands out as a shining example of pragmatic cooperation and strategic alliance, rooted in deep historical bonds forged by the late King Hassan II and Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Recent high-level exchanges between the two nations highlight their shared vision, mutual political backing, and a diversified economic collaboration. These ties are further strengthened by their alignment on major global issues. A notable demonstration of this unity came when UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed King Mohammed VI to Rabat on June 2nd for a private visit. The closed-door meeting provided an opportunity to discuss pressing international challenges, particularly those affecting the Gulf and Middle East regions, while reinforcing the enduring fraternal ties between the two leaders and their families.

In December 2023, King Mohammed VI and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan solidified their commitment to transforming their relationship into a dynamic force for development. The agreement aims to elevate economic, commercial, industrial, and investment cooperation to match the strength of their political and people-to-people connections.

Guided by unwavering trust, both countries are turning their complementary strengths into tangible benefits. Their joint initiatives focus on sustainable investments, leveraging financial resources, public-private partnerships, and capital mobilization to drive high-value projects. Key areas of collaboration include food security, with potential synergies in fertilizer production through partnerships with the Office chérifien des phosphates (OCP). Tourism and real estate development along the Mediterranean coast, as well as in Dakhla and Tarfaya, are also on the agenda. Additionally, the partnership includes reconstruction efforts in regions devastated by the Al Haouz earthquake.

On the political front, Morocco has consistently prioritized the security and stability of its Gulf partners. During the recent conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, Morocco publicly condemned Iranian aggression against Gulf states. King Mohammed VI reinforced this stance in a call with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reaffirming Morocco’s full solidarity with the UAE.
