Maurice kamto’s resignation from party wasn’t a true resignation, says mrc official

The newly appointed head of the clarification and restoration commission set up by Maurice Kamto spoke on the programme “Interview with” on STV.

Pierre Emmanuel Binyam addressed Maurice Kamto’s departure from the party to join Manidem and be nominated as a candidate for the 2026 presidential election—a candidacy that was ultimately rejected.

“President Maurice Kamto’s resignation from the party was not a resignation in the sense of turning his back on the party. We sent him on a mission. Now, after what happened, he has returned. We asked him to come back and finish his term,” Binyam stated.

The Movement for the Rebirth of Cameroon (MRC) member stressed that Kamto’s elimination was a severe ordeal for party members.

“The rejection of Maurice Kamto’s candidacy deeply affected us. We were profoundly marked by the elimination of our candidate from this election, especially since all polls—both national and international—showed him as the clear winner,” Binyam added.
