Morocco and kuwait discuss boosting air connectivity in Rabat

In Rabat on Tuesday, Abdessamad Kayouh, Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, engaged in discussions with Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, President of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Kuwait. Their meeting aimed at significantly enhancing coordination between the two nations across the entire spectrum of air navigation.

Convening on the sidelines of the 29th General Assembly session of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, hosted in Morocco, both delegations meticulously reviewed strategic initiatives designed to bolster the safety and security of air navigation. They also thoroughly explored avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation.

Minister Kayouh underscored that the discussions provided an invaluable opportunity to reaffirm the longstanding and exceptional historical ties binding Morocco and Kuwait. He further revealed that a primary focus of the meeting was the reactivation of direct air services between Kuwait and Casablanca. Kayouh confirmed Royal Air Maroc’s firm commitment to promptly resume this crucial route, pending the integration of its latest generation of long-haul aircraft into its fleet.

For his part, Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah confirmed that the dialogue also encompassed strategies for significantly increasing air traffic volumes between Kuwait and Morocco. This proactive measure anticipates the upcoming 2030 World Cup, which the Kingdom will proudly co-host with Spain and Portugal, aiming to accommodate the projected surge in tourists arriving from both within Morocco and the wider Gulf region.

The proceedings of this significant session concluded with the election of members for the Organization’s key bodies for the 2026-2028 term, including the General Assembly, Executive Council, and technical committees. Additionally, Khalid Cherkaoui was officially appointed as the new Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization.
