The Kingdom of Morocco and the United Kingdom are joining forces to significantly boost bilateral trade and investment, leveraging the momentum from major infrastructure projects and the upcoming 2030 FIFA World Cup. This strategic partnership was highlighted during a high-level meeting in Rabat, where Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, and the UK’s Minister of State for International Trade, Chris Bryant, outlined ambitious goals to double trade volumes.
During his official visit to Morocco at the helm of a British delegation comprising government officials and private sector leaders, Bryant underscored the transformative potential of the 2030 World Cup. He emphasized how the tournament could serve as a catalyst for infrastructure development, economic growth, and long-term sustainability, positioning both nations as key players in global trade.
Mezzour echoed these sentiments, stressing that the 2030 World Cup is not merely a sporting event but a pivotal opportunity to modernize Morocco’s transport networks, healthcare systems, and public amenities across the entire country. Beyond the tournament itself, he emphasized Morocco’s commitment to an eight-year national transformation agenda aimed at fostering economic resilience and regional integration.
Addressing British business leaders, Mezzour invited collaboration in Morocco’s public procurement initiatives and large-scale projects, positioning the country as a gateway to Africa’s supply chains. He also highlighted Morocco’s shift from technology transfers to deeper, value-driven partnerships focused on innovation, investment, and global competitiveness.
The two-day business forum in Rabat and Casablanca, held on June 2 and 3, brought together nearly 50 British firms specializing in infrastructure, transport, security, engineering, design, and professional services.
