Morocco and Mali inaugurate major vocational training center in Bamako

The Complexe Mohammed VI de Formation professionnelle in Bamako has been officially handed over to Malian authorities, marking a significant milestone in South-South cooperation. This state-of-the-art facility, covering 5,200 m², was built through the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sustainable Development to address critical vocational training needs in Mali.
Training infrastructure serving Mali’s youth
The center will welcome up to 1,000 trainees annually across 21 specialized programs, including 12 dedicated to construction and public works, and 9 focused on hospitality, tourism, and catering. Designed to bridge the skills gap in Mali’s labor market, the complex emphasizes a hands-on approach with alternating theoretical and practical training sessions, ensuring graduates are job-ready.
The initiative aligns with the vision of King Mohammed VI, who personally instructed the realization of this project as part of Morocco’s commitment to supporting African youth through capacity-building and sustainable development.
Strengthening South-South cooperation
During an official visit to the complex, Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, highlighted the project’s role in reinforcing solidarity and knowledge-sharing between Morocco and Mali. He stated, “This center embodies the deep ties uniting our nations and reflects a shared ambition to empower African youth with the tools for progress.”
Oumou Sall Seck, Mali’s Minister of National Entrepreneurship, Employment, and Vocational Training, conveyed the gratitude of General Assimi Goita, President of Mali’s Transition, to King Mohammed VI. She emphasized that the center addresses Mali’s strategic need for skilled labor in key economic sectors, stating, “This gesture strengthens the historical bonds between our countries and supports Mali’s sustainable development goals.”

The inauguration of this vocational training hub underscores the growing partnership between Morocco and Mali, with a focus on human capital development as a catalyst for economic growth. By equipping young Malians with market-relevant skills, the project aims to reduce youth unemployment and foster long-term prosperity in the region.
