Le top brass of Morocco’s armed forces, led by the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Southern Zone Commander, General Mohammed Berrid, wrapped up an official visit to Mauritania. Upon arrival in Nouakchott, the general was warmly received by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani. The meeting took place alongside Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar, as confirmed by an official statement from the General Staff of the FAR.
A few hours later, General Berrid paid a visit to the Mauritanian Ministry of Defense, where he was honored with the presentation of the Commander grade National Order of Merit. The medal was handed over by Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi on behalf of the Mauritanian President.
The high-level delegation then co-chaired the sixth session of the Morocco-Mauritania Joint Military Commission. During the discussions, both sides reviewed the progress of their defense partnership and highlighted the tangible achievements that have strengthened military cooperation between the two nations.
Senior military officials from both countries expressed strong satisfaction with the positive outcomes of their collaboration. They commended the concrete results stemming from this strategic alliance, which continues to serve as a benchmark for defense partnerships in the region.
