Olympique Marseille aims for a fresh start in the 2025-2026 season following a disappointing campaign. Despite anticipated player departures due to financial constraints, the club is reportedly considering bringing back a familiar Ligue 1 forward. Martin Terrier’s name is currently circulating in Marseille, a prospect that appears to greatly appeal to Bruno Genesio, the newly appointed coach for the Phocaeans.
Stepping in as the new Olympique Marseille head coach, Bruno Genesio takes over from Habib Beye, whose recent tenure didn’t yield the desired turnaround. The 59-year-old tactician, having recently departed LOSC, previously managed Stade Rennais, where he notably coached Martin Terrier. The 29-year-old striker, currently with Bayer Leverkusen since 2024, is seen as a strong fit for the Marseille squad.
Olympique Marseille explores Martin Terrier transfer, Bruno Genesio enthusiastic
Recent speculation has firmly linked Martin Terrier to Olympique Marseille. The 29-year-old forward is emerging as a potential recruitment target for the Marseille leadership. A move would see him reunite with Bruno Genesio, under whom he previously thrived at Rennes between 2020 and 2024. Reports indicate that while direct player-to-sporting director calls are uncommon, Olympique Marseille’s interest in Martin Terrier is genuine. Currently, discussions are underway with the player’s representatives, though no official offer has yet been submitted to Bayer Leverkusen. It is understood that Bruno Genesio holds the player in extremely high regard, expressing immense admiration for his abilities.
Genesio expresses strong admiration for Terrier amid OM links
Officially appointed as Olympique Marseille’s new head coach, Bruno Genesio is tasked with guiding the club back to prominence. The former LOSC manager would undoubtedly welcome the arrival of a player he previously coached and knows exceptionally well. Martin Terrier remains under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2029, with his current market valuation estimated at €9 million. For Olympique Marseille to finance such a move, securing several player departures to bolster its finances will be a necessary precursor.
