When asked whether he would run for president in 2029 regardless of circumstances, the leader of Pastef, Ousmane Sonko, remained cautious.
He replied that discussing a candidacy is still very premature. “I see many initiatives talking about Ousmane Sonko’s candidacy in 2029, and I would like to wait until the time comes, because I have a political party that will invest whichever candidate it wishes to nominate. We are not there yet,” said the president of the National Assembly.
Regarding Diomaye Faye’s candidacy in 2029, Ousmane Sonko stated that he does not concern himself with the president’s candidacy. “I think he has his own path to follow. I have mine. I will not dwell on a possible candidacy of the outgoing president, the current president,” he said.
