During the inauguration of the Pastef headquarters in Mbacké, party president Ousmane Sonko issued a powerful appeal to his political officials, emphasizing the critical need for unity. He cautioned against internal rivalries that could undermine the party’s momentum, directly addressing the cadres and highlighting that cohesion is the sole guarantor of their future endeavors.
Sonko acknowledged that individual ambition is not inherently negative but stressed that it becomes detrimental when it compromises collective unity and the party’s operational effectiveness. Confident in Pastef’s broad popular base, Ousmane Sonko asserted that the party remains robust, backed by the support of at least 70% of the population. Consequently, he believes Pastef has no significant external adversaries to fear. For him, the primary danger originates from within the party itself, underscoring the individual and collective responsibility of the leaders.
The President of the National Assembly urged officials to join forces and confront upcoming challenges as a united front. He also warned that should this unity falter, he would not hesitate to assume his responsibilities and make the necessary decisions, a statement hinting at potential sanctions or internal restructuring within the party.
