Psg faces stiff competition from Manchester United for Mateus Fernandes

After clinching their second consecutive Champions League title, Paris Saint-Germain is planning a busy summer transfer window. The club intends to rejuvenate Luis Enrique’s squad for the upcoming season and has activated several leads, including one for Mateus Fernandes. However, a Premier League giant currently appears to be in the driver’s seat for the 21-year-old attacking midfielder.

Winners of a second straight Champions League, PSG has set its sights on an active summer market. The Parisian club aims to refresh the squad under Luis Enrique for the coming season and has thus explored several transfer targets. The name of Mateus Fernandes has surfaced in recent weeks. The Portuguese international, left out of the squad for the 2026 World Cup, is expected to leave West Ham. Yet the Rouge-et-Bleu do not appear to be in an ideal position for the 21-year-old midfielder.

Manchester United in pole position for Mateus Fernandes?

Manchester United is currently the frontrunner for Mateus Fernandes. The West Ham player has a clear preference for joining the Red Devils this summer, despite interest from Tottenham and other clubs. As a result, PSG may be losing out to this Premier League powerhouse in the race for the midfielder.

PSG advances on other targets

Meanwhile, PSG continues to make progress on other transfer fronts. The capital club is reportedly in a strong position for both Yan Diomandé of RB Leipzig and Maghnes Akliouche of AS Monaco. The Ivorian international and the Monaco attacking midfielder are said to be interested in joining the two-time European champions this summer. However, the combined cost of the two deals could reach around 200 million euros. Stay tuned for further developments.
