Serigne Khalifa Kounta, the esteemed spokesperson for the Khadres Sufi order, showered praise upon Ousmane Sonko during a recent visit. The President of the National Assembly was present in Ndiassane in anticipation of the upcoming Gamou celebration scheduled for Tuesday, September 1st.
While speaking to the President of the National Assembly, Serigne Khalifa Kounta specifically articulated: « Ndongo daara le, arabisan le, ku mokeul alxourane le ». This Wolof phrase translates to mean that the President of the National Assembly is a “child of the daara,” signifying an individual who has emerged from the traditional Quranic educational system. This background is considered a profound source of pride for the religious and educational community in Sénégal.
Khadres confraternity’s endorsement of Sonko
“This is a source of immense pride for us, the doumou daara (children of the daara),” he further emphasized, underscoring the deep connection and support the Khadres confraternity holds for Ousmane Sonko and his distinguished journey.
This public declaration follows the exceptionally warm reception Ousmane Sonko experienced upon his arrival in Ndiassane. There, he was welcomed by the General Khalife of the Khadres, Serigne Sidy Mahtar Kounta, alongside the spokesperson.
