Senegalese parliament grills pm ousmane sonko and cabinet on key issues

In keeping with the Assembly’s mandate to oversee government actions, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and his cabinet are scheduled to appear before lawmakers this Friday, May 22, 2026, for a session of urgent parliamentary questions. The announcement was confirmed by El Malick Ndiaye, President of the National Assembly.

This formal exchange offers legislators a platform to address pressing concerns with the head of government and select ministers, covering critical topics such as economic stability, rising living costs, unemployment trends, ongoing institutional reforms, and active public policy initiatives. The dialogue is expected to highlight both achievements and areas needing urgent attention from the executive branch.

Since assuming office in April 2024, Prime Minister Sonko has participated in four such sessions, reinforcing this practice as a cornerstone of parliamentary oversight and public accountability in Senegal.
