Speaking publicly, Chérif Bouna Samsidine Aïdara observed that Senegal is currently navigating “difficult moments,” making a strong plea for the nation to collectively uphold the values of peace and resilience.
“We are witnessing concerning situations at the very pinnacle of the state, a profound crisis within the government’s highest echelons. Our leaders must be afforded the space to work diligently and reach mutual understanding among themselves,” he stated emphatically.
The prominent voice further stressed the critical need for the two principal figures of the executive branch to adopt an attitude of steadfast resilience, which is essential for preserving the country’s overall stability.
“The President of the Republic must embody resilience. The Prime Minister, too, must demonstrate resilience. They are both called upon to embrace the principles of the International Day of Peace to guide Senegal towards its most prosperous path,” he elaborated.
According to Chérif Bouna Samsidine Aïdara, the prevailing atmosphere has generated considerable apprehension among the Senegalese populace.
“What we are experiencing and what we are hearing through various channels does not reassure us. The people of Senegal are fearful. We earnestly hope our nation avoids such challenging circumstances at the highest levels of governance,” he affirmed.
Ultimately, he issued a direct appeal to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, urging them to prioritize constructive dialogue and foster an environment of calm for the ultimate benefit of the entire nation.
