Sonelgaz launches 40 MW power plant project in N’Djamena
A high-level delegation from Algeria’s Sonelgaz has arrived in N’Djamena to initiate work on a 40 MW electricity generation plant project in Chad. According to an official statement, this initiative aligns with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s vision to bolster South-South cooperation and foster strategic partnerships across Africa.
The Algerian delegation, led by Sonelgaz-International CEO Yazid Djellouli, was warmly received by the Director-General of the Société Tchadienne d’Électricité (Tchad-Elec). The meeting took place in the presence of Algeria’s Ambassador to Chad and senior officials from Chad’s Ministry of Energy.
The delegation also met with Chad’s Minister of State for Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation, Tahir Hamid Nguilin, and the Minister of Water and Energy, Passalé Kanabé Marcelin. This gathering underscored the strategic importance of the project in strengthening economic and energy ties between Algeria and Chad.
