A new complaint has been filed against Ousmane Sonko, the leader of the PASTEF party, at the Dakar courthouse. The Collectif des petits-fils de Serigne Touba have asked for an immediate investigation into the alleged defamatory statements made by Sonko during the inauguration of the party’s headquarters in Touba.
According to the complaint, Sonko was reported to have said that ‘dirty money’ had entered the holy city of Touba. The plaintiffs argue that this statement is likely to damage the honor and reputation of Touba as well as its inhabitants.
The group claims that Sonko’s comments could also tarnish the city’s spiritual integrity and lead people to doubt its moral character.
In their petition, the plaintiffs request that Sonko be summoned for a hearing so that he can clarify his statements and present evidence to support them. They also ask for further investigations into any potential wrongdoing.
The group has requested that legal action be taken if the investigation finds evidence of wrongdoing. This includes possible charges related to defamation, spreading false news, or other offenses under current laws.
