As of June 20, 2026, substantial headway has been made on the Dja bridge project, with the structure’s supports nearing full completion. Teams from CHINA HARBOUR ENGINEERING COMPANY CAMEROUN are intensifying their efforts to finalize the bridge’s construction.
Beyond this significant advancement, additional geotechnical surveys have been finalized, and the detailed execution studies currently stand at 60% completion. All twenty foundation piles are now in place. Furthermore, work has commenced on the access road from the Bissombo side, involving the reinforcement bar installation for the culvert abutments at PK 0+669, the placement of substitute material following the culvert purge at PK 0+818, and the crushing of 0/250 aggregates.
This vital infrastructure initiative encompasses the erection of a 90-meter bridge and the development of 3 kilometers of access roads. Once completed, the project will significantly enhance the connectivity along the Assok-Ngombo corridor, spanning the Déjà and Lobo departments within the Southern region. The total investment for the Dja bridge construction is projected at 10,530,686,344 FCFA, inclusive of all taxes.
In addition to the main bridge structure, the design includes 1000 meters of access road improvements, specifically 500 meters extending from each side of the bridge. These improvements feature a two-lane carriageway with an overall width of 7.00 meters, flanked by 1.50-meter wide shoulders finished with a double-layer surface dressing. The project also incorporates the construction of essential drainage infrastructure, including two culverts measuring 2 x 2.00 x 1.50 meters, two culverts measuring 2 x 2.00 x 2.00 meters, and the establishment of an access dike along the riverbanks.
