The French Embassy in Morocco hosted a national day celebration in Rabat on July 14, bringing together over 1,500 guests. Ambassador Philippe Lalliot emphasized the future-focused bilateral partnership between France and Morocco during the event.
“From Rabat to Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, or Laâyoune—where I recently inaugurated the city’s first Alliance Française—we are not just discussing the future; we are actively building it, day by day,” the ambassador remarked, joined by Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, representing the government.
Highlighting the depth of cooperation, Philippe Lalliot pointed to the broad spectrum of collaboration between the two nations. He referenced President Emmanuel Macron’s July 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI, in which France acknowledged that the future of the Sahara is tied to Morocco’s sovereignty. “The French and Moroccan diplomatic corps are jointly advancing the core principles that underpin international order and multilateral institutions,” he stated.
The ambassador also underscored France’s leading role as Morocco’s top foreign investor and employer, with French enterprises playing a pivotal role in the country’s industrial growth for over a decade. Looking ahead, he outlined the shared priorities shaping the bilateral relationship: “addressing global challenges with unified solutions, strengthening security cooperation, and supporting sectors that will drive tomorrow’s economies.”
Among the key priorities, Philippe Lalliot highlighted three pillars: “developing joint strategies to tackle major international challenges and enhance security; collaborating in sectors that will fuel our future economic growth; and fostering friendship and mutual understanding between our societies—especially among the youth, who represent the future of Franco-Moroccan relations.”
He concluded by celebrating the enduring people-to-people ties, which thrive through the vibrant contributions of Moroccan and French diaspora communities.
