Taiwan imposes visa suspension for Moroccan travelers
In a move driven by reciprocity, Taiwan has temporarily halted the processing of visa applications from Moroccan citizens. The decision follows reports that Morocco has suspended the acceptance of visa applications for Taiwanese nationals worldwide.
The Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Moroccan Embassy in Japan recently notified Taiwanese travel agencies of the suspension of visa confirmation letter requests. Additionally, the Moroccan government appears to have instructed its embassies and consulates globally to cease processing these requests, disrupting cross-border travel and bilateral exchanges.
Effective immediately, Taiwan has reciprocated by suspending visa applications for Moroccan citizens, with exceptions permitted only for those holding special authorization. The ministry has urged Morocco to reinstate practical travel arrangements and stated that it will continue monitoring visa policies before considering further actions.
