Tchad advances freight sector with digital transformation training in N’Djamena
Tchad’s Bureau National du Fret Terrestre (BNFT) completed a three-day digital training in N’Djamena, equipping transport officials with tools to modernize land freight operations.
The Bureau National du Fret Terrestre (BNFT) wrapped up a pivotal three-day training on May 16, 2026, in N’Djamena, focusing on digitalizing land freight services. Held at the Kempinski Hotel N’Djamena, the workshop brought together control agents and representatives from N’Djamena and Mayo-Kebbi to explore cutting-edge digital tools designed to revolutionize Tchad’s transport sector.
Key digital tools and their operational impact
During the closing ceremony, Brahim Mahamat Adoum, chair of the steering committee, highlighted the participants’ strong engagement throughout the training. He outlined several modules centered on digital technologies and streamlined freight management, including:
- Accessing the digital interface for seamless operations;
- Cargo declaration through automated systems;
- Carrier management with real-time tracking;
- Structural and agency configuration for tailored workflows;
- System setup to ensure compatibility and efficiency.
These innovations aim to enhance administrative efficiency and improve on-the-ground monitoring of freight activities.
A strategic move toward national digitalization
The BNFT’s president emphasized that this initiative aligns with Tchad’s broader push to modernize public services and embrace digital transformation. He noted that the Obligatory Carriage Letter (LVO) and Axle Tax (TAE) now require proficient use of digital tools to strengthen oversight of transport operations. Technical partners, including TRADELINK SOLUTIONS and SERVOO Consulting, were commended for their expertise in guiding the training.
e-BNFT: a game-changer for freight documentation
Saleh Youssouf Erda, director-general of the steering committee, underscored that the workshop trained officials on operating and managing the new e-BNFT platform. This system marks a decisive shift from paper-based processes to a fully digital approach, enabling:
- Instant issuance and verification of critical documents like LVO and TAE;
- Contactless document processing for freight transport;
- Mobile and desktop accessibility for convenience and flexibility.
Driving economic growth and transparency
Erda also stressed the platform’s role in securing state revenue and generating reliable statistical data for informed economic policymaking. This digital leap reflects the national vision championed by President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, aimed at transforming administration and public services.
The closing ceremony concluded on a high note, with participants encouraged to integrate the platform into daily operations, master its features, and share their knowledge with colleagues. The event concluded with a call to sustain momentum in overcoming digitalization challenges across public administration and the land freight sector in Tchad.
