Togo special blood donation drive set for june 12 ahead of world blood donor day

As part of the 22nd World Blood Donor Day celebrations slated for June 14, 2026, the National Blood Transfusion Center (NBTC) in Lomé is rallying residents of the capital and surrounding areas to participate in a dedicated blood donation drive.

The campaign, themed “A drop of humanity. Give blood. Save lives,” will culminate in a special collection event on Friday, June 12, 2026, running from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Two convenient donation sites in Lomé

Donors can choose between two accessible locations to contribute:

  • the NBTC headquarters in Tokoin Doumasséssé, directly across from EPP Doumasséssé 1;
  • the Tokoin Collection and Distribution Unit (CDU) at the Sylvanus Olympio University Hospital, behind the hemodialysis department.

Urgent call for solidarity to meet medical needs

The NBTC aims to bolster the national blood supply for hospitals and clinics across the country. Community participation is crucial, as a single donation can save multiple lives. The center emphasizes that blood donations remain in critical demand year-round, not just during emergencies.

“Every donor brings us one step closer to saving lives,” stated an NBTC spokesperson, urging residents to step forward and donate. The institution expressed gratitude in advance to all volunteers for their vital role in this life-saving mission.
