Strengthening mobility in key Moroccan coastal cities
Uber is officially broadening its footprint in Morocco by launching its ride-hailing services in Agadir and Tanger. This strategic expansion is designed to support the country’s flourishing tourism sector and follows the successful establishment of the platform in Casablanca and Rabat. By increasing its geographic coverage, the company aims to capitalize on Morocco’s status as a top-tier travel destination, especially as the nation prepares for the 2030 World Cup.
With a national goal of attracting 26 million visitors by 2030, the introduction of these services focuses on providing reliable, safe, and convenient transportation. The objective is to enhance the travel experience for international and local tourists alike, ensuring smooth transitions from hotels to major points of interest and simplifying urban exploration.
New ride options for Agadir and Tanger residents
To meet the rising demand for modern transport solutions, Uber is now offering its popular UberX and UberXL categories in both Agadir and Tanger. Users in these cities can request rides directly through the smartphone application, mirroring the service model already operational in the kingdom’s largest urban centers. This move is expected to facilitate easier movement across the country for those navigating these growing economic and tourist hubs.
The expansion comes at a time of significant growth for the Moroccan tourism industry. In 2025, the kingdom welcomed a record-breaking 19.8 million tourists, marking a 14% rise compared to the prior year. Financial data shows that tourism revenues reached 124 billion dirhams between January and November of that same year. The positive trend has continued into the first quarter of 2026, with 4.3 million visitors recorded, representing a 7% increase over the same period last year.
