
The inaugural session of the General Assembly commenced with solemnity on July 9 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. A distinguished gathering marked the occasion, including the President of the Cameroonian Senate, the President of the Cameroonian National Assembly, and the President of the Cameroonian Economic and Social Council. Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), was also among the prominent guests. More than 350 delegates participated in the conference, notably featuring nearly 20 parliamentary presidents and vice-presidents from member states of the Francophone Parliamentary Assembly (APF), representatives from the International Organisation of La Francophonie, diplomatic missions, and various international organizations.
The agenda for the 51st General Assembly of the APF centered on critical priority issues spanning politics, democracy, economics, social affairs, culture, and the environment. The primary objective was to bolster parliamentary cooperation and collectively advance solutions to shared challenges confronting the broader Francophone Community.
