On September 7, 2026, Dakar witnessed a significant milestone for the national carrier as Air Senegal officially took delivery of a brand new Boeing 737-800. Christened “Gorée,” this strategic addition marks a crucial advancement in expanding the airline’s operational reach and reinforcing the aviation independence of Senegal.
The acquisition was fully backed by the Senegalese government, facilitated through the Ministry of Land and Air Transport under the leadership of Abdoul Ahad Ndiaye. This development reflects the vision of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to build a robust national airline capable of supporting the country’s economic, tourism, and global aspirations.

The newly integrated aircraft is a versatile narrow-body model from the Boeing 737 NG family, optimized for short and medium-range flights. Inside, the cabin features a dual-class layout designed to accommodate 174 passengers: 12 in business class and 162 in economy, all outfitted with ergonomic Recaro seating.
