Charged by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb on Monday started an official visit to the Republic of Chad, aimed at strengthening fraternal ties and boosting cooperation and partnership between the two nations, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.
The prime minister is accompanied by Minister of State and Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Mourad Adjal, and the director general of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, Abed Hallouz, along with several executives from national companies active in hydrocarbons, energy, and electricity.
Upon arrival at N’Djamena International Airport, the prime minister was welcomed by his Chadian counterpart and head of government, Allamaye Halina, alongside several Chadian government members and senior officials.
Following the reception ceremony, the two prime ministers held a bilateral working session during which they reviewed progress in the distinguished relations between Algeria and Chad and exchanged views on ways to give new momentum to bilateral cooperation and expand its scope, reflecting the shared will of both countries’ leaders to elevate fraternal and cooperative ties toward broader horizons that serve the common interests of the two brotherly peoples.
Ground-breaking ceremony for a 40-megawatt power plant in N’Djamena
During the visit, the prime minister, together with his Chadian counterpart, chaired the ground-breaking ceremony for an Algerian-Chadian solidarity power plant in the Farcha industrial zone of N’Djamena, with a capacity of 40 megawatts.
This project will be carried out by Sonelgaz International as a donation from the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the sisterly Republic of Chad, in line with directives from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and reaffirming Algeria’s ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable development processes in brotherly African countries, while strengthening values of African solidarity and cooperation through structural projects with direct impact on economic and social development.
The prime minister is also scheduled to hold consultations with President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, on prospects for strengthening the Algerian-Chadian partnership as well as key regional and African issues of mutual interest.
This visit to Chad is part of the positive and growing momentum in Algerian-Chadian relations, concretizing the shared will of the two countries’ leaders to take bilateral cooperation to higher levels and strengthen economic and development partnership.
