During a recent appearance on Jakaarlo this Friday, commentator Badara Gadiaga launched a severe critique regarding Ousmane Sonko’s stewardship of political funds during his tenure as head of government. Gadiaga highlighted that 142 days have elapsed since the former Prime Minister’s dismissal from the Primature on May 22, 2026. He asserted that over this period, Sonko virtually exhausted the entire 1.77 billion CFA franc allocation designated for political funds. According to Gadiaga, upon his departure, Ousmane Sonko left his successor, Al Aminou Lo, with less than 70 million CFA francs.
Through a straightforward calculation, the commentator determined that this sum translates to approximately 12 million CFA francs expended daily throughout Ousmane Sonko’s time at the Primature. Gadiaga starkly juxtaposed this figure with the challenging circumstances faced by the university community during the same period, specifically referencing the tragic death of young Abdoulaye Ba, who was advocating for the disbursement of his modest 40,000 CFA franc scholarship. For Badara Gadiaga, this pronounced discrepancy reveals a profound contradiction between the official rhetoric surrounding the Economic and Social Recovery Plan (PRES) and the actual management of public finances by the former head of government, who, Gadiaga noted, allegedly controlled over 300,000 CFA francs per month from these funds. It is this glaring misalignment between the plight of struggling students and the substantial amounts mobilized within the Prime Minister’s Office that the commentator vehemently labeled as ‘vampirism’.
