Following the joint parade for National Unity Day, where Chadian forces participated alongside their Cameroonian counterparts, Yaoundé and N’Djamena are moving to deepen their defense partnership. This historic alliance, built on shared security priorities and enduring military brotherhood, took center stage during high-level discussions in the capital.

The 54th edition of Cameroon’s National Unity Day celebrations concluded with a renewed commitment to defense cooperation between Yaoundé and N’Djamena. On May 21, 2026, Cameroon’s Minister Delegate to the Presidency in charge of Defense, Mr. Beti Assomo Joseph, hosted a working session with Chadian Minister of National Defense, General Issakha Malloua Djamous.

The meeting at the Ministry of Defense in Yaoundé focused on strengthening the operational ties between Cameroon’s and Chad’s armed forces. Discussions highlighted the mutual challenges facing the subregion and explored pathways to enhance joint security initiatives. The cordial atmosphere underscored the long-standing trust and cooperation between the two nations.

General Djamous led a delegation that engaged in frank exchanges about regional security dynamics. Both parties emphasized the need for continued close collaboration to safeguard stability across Central Africa. The Chadian delegation’s presence at the Unity Day parade in Yaoundé further symbolized the depth of military cooperation and solidarity between the two countries.

Beyond military considerations, the meeting reflected a broader commitment to fostering people-to-people ties. Cameroon and Chad are reaffirming their dedication to regional integration and collective security, reinforcing a partnership that serves as a model for African cooperation.
