On Thursday, July 10, 2026, N’Djamena hosted a pivotal national workshop convened by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Vocational Training. The event centered on validating a groundbreaking diagnostic report that will underpin Chad’s upcoming National Strategy for Digital Transformation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The workshop brought together key stakeholders from across the sector, including representatives from over 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (CFTP) nationwide. Participants engaged in a rigorous review process to refine and endorse the report, which outlines critical insights and actionable recommendations for modernizing Chad’s TVET system through digital innovation.
This initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation in TVET, championed by esteemed partners such as UNESCO, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the GIZ-SIFA program. The preparatory phase involved extensive field missions and digital data collection, engaging more than 200 respondents to capture a comprehensive snapshot of the country’s TVET landscape.
Key insights and strategic priorities
Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, delivered the opening remarks on behalf of the Secretary of State for Higher Education. He emphasized the strategic imperative of digital transformation in aligning Chad’s vocational training systems with rapid technological advancements and evolving labor market demands. The report, he noted, highlights both notable progress and significant challenges, including governance gaps, inadequate digital infrastructure, connectivity issues, energy supply constraints, and the urgent need to upskill instructors in digital competencies.
The Director General urged participants to contribute their expertise to refine the document, ensuring the final strategy is realistic, inclusive, and reflective of Chad’s unique national context. The validated report will serve as the foundation for crafting a robust national strategy and operational action plan for the period 2026–2030.
