The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Professional Training recently hosted a pivotal national validation workshop in N’Djamena on July 10, 2026, marking a critical step toward modernizing Chad’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system. The event centered on reviewing, enriching, and endorsing a groundbreaking diagnostic report—one that will lay the foundation for the country’s first-ever National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET.
This initiative aligns with the broader Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation in TVET, championed by key partners including UNESCO, the African Union, the African Development Bank, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. The study behind the report engaged over 200 participants from 57 TVET centers and supporting institutions across Chad. Through on-site assessments and digital data collection, the team mapped out the current state of infrastructure, governance, and digital readiness across the nation’s academic sectors.
Addressing participants on behalf of the Secretary of State for Higher Education, Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, emphasized the urgent need for digital integration in TVET. He framed the transformation as a strategic necessity to align training programs with evolving technological demands and emerging career opportunities. “The digital shift is no longer optional—it is the cornerstone of a future-ready education system,” he stated, underscoring the government’s commitment to leveraging technology as a catalyst for systemic modernization.
The diagnostic report reveals a mix of progress and persistent hurdles. While some TVET centers have made strides in digital adoption, systemic challenges remain. Key concerns include governance gaps, inadequate digital infrastructure, unreliable connectivity, power supply issues, trainer upskilling, and the integration of digital competencies into curricula. Workshop participants were urged to refine the document collaboratively, ensuring the resulting strategy is both pragmatic and reflective of Chad’s unique socio-economic landscape.
With the validated report now serving as a blueprint, the next phase begins: the development of a five-year operational action plan (2026–2030) aimed at building a modern, efficient, and market-responsive TVET ecosystem. The long-term vision is clear: equip Chad’s workforce with the skills demanded by a digital economy, positioning the nation as a leader in technical and vocational excellence across the region.
