In a pivotal step toward modernizing technical and vocational education, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Professional Training convened a landmark national workshop in N’Djamena on July 10, 2026. The gathering brought together key stakeholders to review, refine, and endorse an in-depth diagnostic report—serving as the foundation for Chad’s upcoming National Strategy for Digital Transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation of TVET Systems, supported by organizations including UNESCO, the African Union, and the African Development Bank. Its goal is to embed sustainable digital innovation across Chad’s technical training centers, ensuring alignment with global technological advancements and evolving labor market demands.
The pre-strategy assessment mobilized over 200 participants from 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (CFTPs) nationwide. Through a mix of field missions and digital data collection, the study evaluated infrastructure readiness, connectivity gaps, energy access, and the digital proficiency of instructors. Findings revealed both progress and critical hurdles, particularly in governance, digital infrastructure, and curriculum integration of digital skills.
Key Objectives and Stakeholder Engagement
Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization—representing the Secretary of State for Higher Education—opened the session by emphasizing digital transformation as a strategic priority. He highlighted the government’s commitment to leveraging technology as a catalyst for modernizing Chad’s TVET sector, ensuring graduates are equipped for 21st-century careers.
During the workshop, participants engaged in robust discussions to strengthen the diagnostic report, addressing challenges such as inconsistent internet access in rural CFTPs, limited access to electricity for digital tools, and the need for continuous educator training in digital pedagogy. The collaborative effort aimed to produce a pragmatic, inclusive strategy tailored to Chad’s unique socio-economic landscape.
Pathway to a Digital-First TVET System
Once finalized, the validated report will underpin Chad’s National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET, complete with a detailed action plan spanning 2026 to 2030. The blueprint seeks to establish a robust, job-market-aligned technical education ecosystem, fostering innovation and competitiveness across Chad’s workforce.
