Chad has launched a comprehensive offensive against human trafficking, with a special emphasis on protecting vulnerable groups such as women and children. A circular has been distributed to judicial and security officials nationwide, underscoring the urgency of enforcement and outlining concrete steps to eradicate this crime.

Human trafficking remains one of the most egregious violations of human rights, often manifesting as sexual exploitation or forced labor. Since ratifying the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime in 2009, Chad has strengthened its legal arsenal with critical legislation, including Ordinance No. 006/PR/2018 and Law No. 12/PR/2018. These frameworks establish severe penalties and procedural guidelines to hold perpetrators accountable.

Under the new directives, law enforcement and judicial bodies are mandated to expedite investigations, document cases meticulously, and forward all files to competent courts without delay. Every case must also be reported to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and the National Commission Against Human Trafficking for thorough monitoring and follow-up.

Provincial delegates have been tasked with ensuring strict compliance with these directives, laying the groundwork for a unified national database. This initiative aims to streamline data collection and analysis, enabling Chad to craft more effective policies and allocate resources where they are needed most in the ongoing battle against trafficking.
