Côte d’Ivoire’s Premier Business Networking Event Kicks Off
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d’Ivoire (CCI-CI) inaugurated the second edition of the International Suppliers and Investors Fair in Africa (SIFIA 2026) on August 11, 2026, at Plateau in Abidjan. Under the theme “Connecting businesses, creating markets, and accelerating growth,” the event drew entrepreneurs, investors, and partners for a dedicated business networking session.
The launch ceremony set the tone for what organizers aim to achieve: more than just a trade show, SIFIA 2026 is a catalyst for tangible business expansion. As the General Commissioner of the fair, Marc Ekressin, emphasized, “I’m not here to talk about a trade show. I’m here to discuss the growth of your businesses.” His message was clear—participants should leave with new clients, partnerships, signed contracts, and untapped market opportunities.
SIFIA 2026 Builds on a Strong First Edition
The momentum from the inaugural SIFIA in 2025 played a key role in shaping this year’s event. Last year’s edition brought together 130 exhibitors, 1,700 qualified visitors, and 17 partnerships, alongside the establishment of five international companies in Côte d’Ivoire. The fair also generated over 4.5 billion FCFA in business volume, demonstrating its impact on the local and regional economy.
To further enhance its effectiveness, SIFIA 2026 introduces SIFIA IAPA, an end-to-end intermediation system designed to support businesses before, during, and after the event. This initiative includes identifying company needs, sourcing prospects and partners, arranging business meetings, and providing post-event follow-ups. “A meeting should lead to a contract,” Ekressin stressed, highlighting the fair’s commitment to turning networking into actionable outcomes.
Public and Private Sector Collaboration Urged
Ekressin called on government agencies and financial institutions to deepen their support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small and medium industries (SMIs). He advocated for more accessible financing mechanisms tailored to the unique challenges faced by these businesses, ensuring they can fully leverage the opportunities presented at SIFIA.
Addressing business leaders directly, he urged them to approach the event with strategic intent: “Don’t just book a booth. Invest in your growth.” His words underscored the fair’s role not only as a marketplace but as a growth accelerator for Côte d’Ivoire’s private sector.
Transforming Connections into Business Success
The overarching goal of SIFIA 2026 is to strengthen ties between businesses, investors, and partners, fostering an environment where professional relationships evolve into concrete opportunities. By facilitating meaningful interactions and providing structured support, the event aims to accelerate private sector growth across Africa, positioning Côte d’Ivoire as a hub for trade and investment on the continent.
