Côte d’Ivoire’s JOURIE 2026 kicks off with digital education transformation focus
Abidjan, July 21, 2026 — The 2026 edition of the Open Days for Research and Innovation in Education (JOURIE) has launched today at the École nationale supérieure de statistique et d’économie appliquée (ENSEA), Abidjan. Organized by the Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Technical Training (MENAET), the event revolves around the theme: « Transforming education through digital solutions: sustainable pathways to quality schooling ».
The two-day gathering, concluding tomorrow, serves as a platform to champion research-driven approaches and innovative teaching methods. Its primary goal is to elevate the quality of education in Côte d’Ivoire by embracing digital advancements that enhance learning outcomes and system efficiency.
Bridging research, policy and technology
Dr. Inza Meité, Director of Studies, Strategies, Planning and Statistics (DESPS), emphasized that JOURIE 2026 provides a vital space for collective reflection on how scientific research and technological innovation can reshape schools, colleges, high schools and universities across the country.
« This event underscores the ministry’s commitment to strengthening the link between research findings and educational policies, » he stated. « By ensuring that public decisions are grounded in reliable data and rigorous analysis, we lay the foundation for a more responsive and effective education system. »
He further highlighted the ministry’s vision to position digital tools not merely as instruments, but as transformative forces capable of driving quality, equity and performance in education. « The integration of science, innovation and digital technologies is central to building an inclusive and high-performing school system for all learners, » Dr. Meité added.
Government commitment to evidence-based reforms
Kouadio Kouman, Technical Advisor representing the Minister of National Education, Literacy and Technical Training, opened the event by affirming that the initiative aligns with the government’s strategy to anchor educational reforms in evidence-based practices. « From design to implementation and evaluation, every reform must be informed by robust, internationally validated data, » he said.
He described the chosen theme as a testament to the government’s belief in digital technology as a strategic enabler—one that accelerates progress and unlocks new opportunities. « Digital tools are not just facilitators; they are catalysts for building a more equitable, inclusive and high-performing Ivorian school system, » Kouadio Kouman asserted.
The event brings together a diverse community: researchers, teachers, innovators, policymakers, technical and financial partners, and other education sector stakeholders. Together, they will explore critical dimensions such as governance, innovation, teacher training, infrastructure development and inclusion—all through the lens of digital transformation.
