Democratic republic of Congo: political tensions resurface

Political tensions escalate in Democratic Republic of Congo

Following a period of comparative calm lasting approximately one month, the deadline for President Tshisekedi to convene a crucial national dialogue concluded on August 15. The Head of State subsequently announced on Sunday his intention to address the nation, providing details on the proposed framework for this dialogue. Meanwhile, the C64 opposition coalition has issued a call for citizens to take to the streets in protest on September 15. The pressing question remains whether these burgeoning political tensions can be alleviated before the scheduled demonstrations.
