Abidjan – Endeavour Mining, a prominent gold producer, has announced a significant financial injection of 1,710 billion FCFA into the Ivorian economy between 2021 and 2025. This substantial contribution includes 644 billion FCFA channeled directly to the state through taxes, royalties, and dividends, as detailed in the company’s inaugural Country Impact Report specifically dedicated to Côte d’Ivoire.
Titled « Créer de la valeur tangible » (Creating Tangible Value), this comprehensive report was unveiled on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Endeavour Mining’s headquarters in Cocody. It meticulously outlines the achievements of the Ity and Lafigué mines across key areas such as economic contribution, community development, and environmental stewardship.
Presenting the report’s key findings, Laetitia Gadegbeku-Ouattara, Endeavour’s Vice President of Public Affairs and Country Director for Côte d’Ivoire, emphasized that the Ity and Lafigué operations have transformed gold into a true driver of sustainable development over the past five years. She reiterated the group’s steadfast commitment to fostering a partnership built on mutual trust, transparency, and shared progress.
Further elaborating on the state’s share, Ms. Gadegbeku-Ouattara specified that 398 billion FCFA originated from taxes, 149 billion FCFA from royalties, and 97 billion FCFA from dividends. The company also highlighted its dedication to local commerce, having spent 904 billion FCFA on purchases from national suppliers.
Endeavour’s operations in Côte d’Ivoire directly employ over 1,350 individuals, with 94% being Ivorian nationals. The company also collaborates extensively with 4,390 service providers and more than 600 local suppliers, solidifying its position as a major contributor to the nation’s public revenues and the leading gold producer within Côte d’Ivoire.
In the realm of public health, Ms. Gadegbeku-Ouattara underscored that over 120,000 people have benefited from the company’s and its foundation’s initiatives focused on prevention, screening, and improved access to care. Noteworthy are the Health Caravans, which provided nearly 4,000 individuals with free consultations and treatments, alongside 64 patients who received free cataract surgeries.
Dr. Youssouf Koné, the Departmental Health Director of Zouan-Hounien, acknowledged Endeavour’s partnership as a vital support in the ongoing fight against malaria, significantly benefiting communities residing near the Ity mine.
Regarding education, the company’s programs reached over 4,000 children and young people between 2021 and 2025, while 842 students gained valuable practical experience through internships. Key human capital development initiatives include « Élites de Demain » (Leaders of Tomorrow), « Jeunes Filles en Scolarité » (Girls in School), and « Pépites d’Or » (Gold Nuggets).
The report also detailed an investment exceeding 2.8 billion FCFA in crucial community infrastructure. These funds facilitated 71 projects enhancing access to potable water and security, the rehabilitation of 16 roads benefiting over 360,000 people, the implementation of 10 rural electrification projects, and the provision of 1,000 driving licenses to boost youth professional integration.
From an economic standpoint, over 3,000 individuals have benefited from 284 income-generating initiatives, funded with 487 million FCFA, with a particular focus on empowering women and youth. The « N’Goto Yetehe » program, for instance, provided vocational training to 63 young people across eight different trades in Lafigué.
On the environmental front, Endeavour reported planting over 158,000 trees and protecting or restoring 199 hectares of land between 2021 and 2025. Key actions include the « Un enfant, un arbre » (One Child, One Tree) program, conducted with schools, and the restoration of 125 hectares of classified forests in partnership with SODEFOR. The company’s « Vers Zéro Plastique » (Towards Zero Plastic) strategy has also achieved significant results, eliminating over 1.3 million single-use plastic bottles, representing a 99% reduction over three years.
The Côte d’Ivoire Impact Report for 2021-2025 was presented to the host communities of the Ity and Lafigué mines. The event saw the presence of administrative authorities, local territorial collectives, customary leaders, as well as representatives from youth and women’s groups and mining project steering committees.
