The narrative surrounding Ferran Torres appears to be unfolding at a rapid pace. The FC Barcelona forward is set to compete in a World Cup semi-final on Tuesday, July 14, against the French national team, before potentially embarking on a move from Spain to the City of Lights. Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly vying for his signature in the capital. It seems Luis Enrique may have orchestrated a masterstroke that has already tipped the scales in this high-stakes operation.
Luis Enrique himself signaled upcoming changes within his squad during an interview with TNT Sports on the evening of May 30, following PSG’s second consecutive Champions League triumph. Indeed, the transfer window has seen significant movement: Gonçalo Ramos has completed a move to AC Milan, while Kang-in Lee is reportedly heading to Atletico de Madrid. To address the void left by Ramos’s departure, the capital club is now reportedly focusing its attention on Ferran Torres.
Luis Enrique pens personal letter to Ferran Torres amid transfer talks
The 26-year-old attacker, who remains under contract with FC Barcelona until June 2027, is currently immersed in the World Cup with the Spanish national squad. Once the tournament concludes, Ferran Torres is expected to take advantage of his summer break to calmly deliberate his potential future contract with PSG’s decision-makers, according to reports. Following the transfer of Gonçalo Ramos, PSG’s management appears to have initiated a concerted effort to ensure Torres’s signing is successful. Having previously worked with Torres during his tenure as coach of La Roja, Luis Enrique has also reportedly taken direct action.
“PSG has established contact for the player”
The Paris Saint-Germain head coach is said to have composed a letter directly to Ferran Torres, with the aim of convincing him that joining him at PSG represents the optimal career move. This personal gesture, as reported, has played a pivotal role in the sudden progression of the Torres saga. Esteemed journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Saturday that the operation is advancing favorably. He noted, “Ferran Torres has only one year remaining on his contract at Barcelona, and behind the scenes, PSG has initiated contact for the player. PSG is in discussions with the player’s representatives and is showing keen interest. After Gonçalo Ramos’s departure, Torres could directly replace him, but also offer versatility by playing in several positions, including as a number nine or on the wing. Ferran Torres is indeed an option for PSG, though not their sole target.”
