The core objectives of Colonel Michaël Randrianirina’s recent trip to N’Djamena, Chad, were to bolster bilateral relations and activate the Malagasy diaspora. During his visit, Madagascar’s head of state engaged with approximately twenty Malagasy nationals residing in the country. He emphasized the crucial role of the diaspora, stating, “The diaspora represents a significant asset for Madagascar. Their expertise must be further leveraged.”
Beyond this vital exchange, the visit aimed to invigorate economic and professional collaboration between Madagascar and Chad. The discussions highlighted the importance of skill circulation and shared experiences as key drivers for expanding Madagascar’s influence across the African continent.
A significant part of the itinerary included participation in Chad’s 66th independence anniversary celebrations, held yesterday in N’Djamena. Colonel Michaël Randrianirina attended at the invitation of Marshal Idriss Mahamat, the President of Chad, alongside General Horta N’Tam, President of Guinea-Bissau. Madagascar’s leader characterized this gathering as a prime opportunity to “intensify intra-African cooperation.” He further revealed that “the Chadian President has expressed his readiness to visit Madagascar to engage in discussions and identify avenues for cooperation between our two nations.”
