During a high-level meeting, the President of Gabon welcomed the Mayor of Libreville, Eugène Mba, to discuss the progress of local governance initiatives and the coordination between state and municipal administrations to better serve citizens.
Key urban development projects highlighted
The Mayor presented a comprehensive report on the implementation of his mandate’s strategic roadmap, including a restructured municipal organization and the main action plan aimed at revitalizing the capital’s governance. The discussions centered on major projects intended to reshape Libreville’s urban landscape.
Among the top priorities are urban space reorganization, construction of modern parking facilities, development and enhancement of green and botanical spaces, and combating illegal occupation of public land. Additionally, the focus includes strengthening local infrastructure to enhance living conditions for residents. A notable emphasis was placed on modernizing municipal administration through digital transformation.
Digitalization to streamline municipal services
This initiative aims to simplify administrative procedures for citizens, elevate public service quality, and bolster transparency in municipal management. It also seeks to secure revenue collection processes and significantly boost the commune’s own revenue streams. The President underscored the urgency of accelerating sanitation efforts, particularly in waste management, stressing that cleanliness is a critical requirement for any modern capital.
Vision for a modern and attractive Libreville
The Head of State reiterated Gabon’s ambition to build a contemporary and appealing nation, with Libreville serving as its showcase. He emphasized that the capital must meet international standards in urban planning, local governance, and public service excellence. The President called on the Mayor to demonstrate rigor, innovation, and efficiency in executing these projects.
