The Côte d’Ivoire will host the 7th annual ID4Africa General Assembly from May 12 to 15, 2026, at the Parc des Expositions de Port-Bouët in Abidjan. This year’s theme, “Digital Identity: From Public Digital Infrastructure to Digital Public Ecosystems”, underscores the event’s focus on transforming identification systems across Africa.
This pan-African gathering serves as a crucial platform for public policymakers, technical specialists, and private sector leaders, alongside representatives from international institutions. The opening ceremony, held on May 12, 2026, was led by Côte d’Ivoire’s Vice-President, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, setting the stage for four days of high-level discussions.
Key discussions on digital identity and inclusion
The conference will explore critical topics such as secure population identification, the expansion of digital public services, data protection, and the development of inclusive digital ecosystems. Unlike previous gatherings, this edition emphasizes a holistic approach—moving beyond technical infrastructure to integrate human, legal, institutional, and sectoral dimensions.
The event’s mission is clear: to guide African nations in building robust, responsible digital identity systems that support economic growth, digital transformation, and humanitarian efforts. Since its inception in 2014, ID4Africa has been a driving force in this space, helping countries implement sustainable identity solutions.
By hosting this conference, the Côte d’Ivoire reinforces its commitment to the continent’s digital future. A reliable digital identity system is seen as a cornerstone for improving citizen access to essential services, from healthcare to financial inclusion.
