Independence day reflections: a political leader’s new path in Côte d’Ivoire
On the occasion of Côte d’Ivoire’s 66th Independence Day celebration, former political figure Méambly Tié Évariste addressed the nation with a message of reflection and renewal. His statement marked both a personal transition and a reaffirmation of his lifelong dedication to the country’s progress.
In an emotional address to compatriots, particularly those from the Cavally, Guémon, and Tonkpi regions, Évariste emphasized that “public service extends beyond political office. It thrives wherever expertise, knowledge, and commitment can contribute to Côte d’Ivoire’s and Africa’s development.”
From politics to entrepreneurship and academia
Reflecting on his decade-long tenure as a Deputy of the Nation, his leadership as the first President of the Guémon Regional Council, and his role as President of the parliamentary group Agir pour le Peuple, Évariste expressed deep gratitude to the Ivorian people for their trust. He noted that these experiences had profoundly shaped his commitment to national service.
For nearly seven years, he pursued advanced academic studies in Tunisia and France, earning two Master’s degrees—one in organizational management and another in public policy with a focus on African potential. Currently, he is finalizing his PhD in management sciences, with his defense scheduled for October 2026. His academic journey, he emphasized, was driven by the belief that “knowledge is a transformative force for society.”
Sharing knowledge through writing
Parallel to his studies, Évariste dedicated himself to writing, publishing two influential books: Vaincre ou l’art de transformer l’adversité en engagement, which explores resilience, and Partenariat public-privé et financement des infrastructures routières en milieu rural, an analysis of innovative financing models for rural infrastructure. A third book, set for release in October 2026, will focus on entrepreneurship, real estate, and economic development.
A new chapter: independence and future contributions
Following a long and distinguished political career, including active involvement in the Rassemblement des Houphouëtistes pour la Démocratie et la Paix (RHDP), Évariste has decided to embrace a new path. Since 2012, he has expanded his economic ventures beyond Côte d’Ivoire, establishing a base in France in 2020 to foster international partnerships. With his doctorate approaching, he now intends to channel his energy into entrepreneurship, job creation, investment in strategic projects, and the promotion of international collaborations for Africa’s benefit.
His decision to pursue complete independence in his professional engagements, he clarified, is not a rejection of past associations but a natural progression. He expressed unwavering respect for all those with whom he served and reaffirmed his ongoing support for initiatives promoting peace, national cohesion, education, innovation, and youth empowerment.

Addressing the people of Cavally, Guémon, and Tonkpi, Évariste expressed heartfelt gratitude for their enduring trust. He urged them to uphold the values that define Ivorian strength—unity, hard work, solidarity, and fraternity—while envisioning a future of shared prosperity and progress.
Concluding his message, he extended warm wishes to all Ivorians on Independence Day, praying for the nation’s continued growth and unity. His words echoed a vision of a Côte d’Ivoire firmly anchored in its past yet boldly stepping into the future.
