Côte d’Ivoire reaffirms unwavering backing for Morocco’s territorial integrity

The Republic of Côte d’Ivoire has once again voiced its strong support for Morocco’s full territorial integrity and sovereignty, including the Sahara region, following high-level diplomatic discussions in Rabat.

This position was clearly articulated after a meeting between Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, and Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Nialé Kaba, during her official working visit to the Kingdom. The Ivorian diplomat reiterated her country’s long-standing and consistent support, aligning Abidjan’s stance with that of Rabat on this critical issue.

Diplomatic support aligns with UN resolution on Sahara autonomy

In a broader diplomatic context, Côte d’Ivoire praised the United Nations Security Council’s adoption of Resolution 2797, which recognizes Morocco’s autonomy plan as the most credible foundation for a lasting solution to the regional dispute. The country also highlighted the significance of its 2020 decision to open a consulate general in Laâyoune, further cementing bilateral relations.

For his part, Nasser Bourita expressed Morocco’s deep appreciation for Côte d’Ivoire’s steadfast position, emphasizing the strength of the strategic partnership between the two nations. This collaboration, he noted, is built on mutual trust and a commitment to enhanced South-South cooperation.
