On Sunday, following directives from President of Faso Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Security Minister Mahamadou Sana embarked on a visit to Nayala province. The purpose was to assess the evolving security situation, boost morale among field forces, and listen to local residents’ concerns.
The minister, joined by the governor of the Boucle du Mouhoun region and other local administrative officials, first held talks with traditional leaders in Toma. He then met with provincial administrators and department heads.
Discussions highlighted several ongoing challenges, particularly in healthcare and education, as well as difficulties with public worker mobility in some areas.
During his tour, Mahamadou Sana also engaged with members of the Defence and Security Forces (FDS), Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP), Dozo hunters, and other community stakeholders. He conveyed the president’s and government’s congratulations for the results achieved in securing the area and for the gradual return of populations to villages previously affected by insecurity.
The minister paid tribute to the courage, dedication, and professionalism of the combating forces, urging them to maintain high vigilance, discipline, and cohesion. He underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration between civilians and security forces to build on gains made in the fight against terrorism.
In the municipalities of Kougny and Gassan, residents expressed satisfaction with the authorities’ efforts to restore security and facilitate the resettlement of villages.
At the conclusion of his visit, Mahamadou Sana expressed contentment with the improved security environment in Nayala and the quality of cooperation between the population and the combating forces. He reaffirmed the government’s determination to continue its actions toward a lasting return of peace and stability in the province and across the national territory.
