Ivory coast secures historic 47 trillion cfa franc funding boost for national development plan

President Alassane Ouattara expressed deep satisfaction following the unprecedented financial mobilization achieved for Côte d’Ivoire’s ambitious National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030. Speaking at the conclusion of the Consultative Group meeting held on July 8-9, he highlighted the overwhelming international confidence in the country’s economic stability and growth trajectory.

The two-day gathering in Abidjan brought together over 2,000 investors from 49 nations, representing a broad spectrum of stakeholders. High-level delegates included financial institutions, investment funds, commercial banks, employer associations, public and private enterprises, alongside key development partners.

The event yielded extraordinary results: total commitments reached 80 billion US dollars, equivalent to 47,820 billion F CFA—nearly four times the initial target of 11,138.2 billion F CFA.

The PND 2026-2030 is structured around a bold vision: “Building a Great Nation that is stable, ambitious, and united.” With a projected total investment of 114,838.5 billion F CFA (approximately 209 billion US dollars) over five years, the plan places the private sector at the heart of economic transformation, with 70.2% of funding expected to come from private initiatives.

Ivorian businesses will play a pivotal role in executing the plan, which is built on six strategic pillars:

  • Peace, security, and stability – ensuring a safe environment for growth
  • Agriculture and agro-industry – leveraging Côte d’Ivoire’s agricultural strength
  • Private sector development and industrialization – driving job creation and value addition
  • Human capital enhancement – investing in education and skills
  • Strategic infrastructure – modernizing transport, energy, and digital networks
  • Good governance and state modernization – strengthening institutions for efficiency and transparency

On the macroeconomic front, the plan sets ambitious goals: positioning Côte d’Ivoire among the upper-middle-income economies by 2030, with a GDP per capita exceeding 4,500 US dollars and poverty rates dropping below 20%.

President Ouattara emphasized the government’s commitment to translating financial commitments into tangible benefits for all citizens. His vision includes more schools, hospitals, improved road networks, expanded job opportunities, and inclusive prosperity. He concluded with a rallying call: “Together, with confidence, determination, and unity, we will build a Côte d’Ivoire that is ever more prosperous and united.”
