Côte d’Ivoire: Laurent Gbagbo restructures PPA-CI leadership with six key figures
Former Ivorian Head of State and PPA-CI President Laurent Gbagbo announced in a press release the restructuring of his party’s leadership, appointing four vice-presidents and a chairman for the Strategic and Political Council (CSP). This move formalizes shared responsibilities under a new collective leadership framework.
New leadership roles and responsibilities
The restructuring assigns specific duties to each appointee to enhance party efficiency and cohesion:
- Assoa Adou has been designated First Vice-President, tasked with overseeing party statutes, internal regulations, and ensuring alignment between party structures and its guiding principles.
- Oulaye Hubert assumes the role of Second Vice-President, responsible for party governance, including presiding over Central Committee sessions as stipulated in the statutes.
- Ackan Emmanuel takes on the Third Vice-President position, focusing on party mobilization, political engagement, and strengthening its national outreach while maintaining alignment with the party’s strategic vision.
- Justin Koné Katinan is appointed Fourth Vice-President, charged with overseeing the party’s overall policy direction, coordinating its implementation, and guiding government program development.
- Sébastien Dano Djedje has been named Chairman of the CSP, with authority over the party’s general operations and strategic oversight.
A shift toward collective governance
In explaining the decision, Laurent Gbagbo emphasized that this leadership model prioritizes collaboration and shared accountability. “The strength of our party lies not in a single individual, but in the unity and collective effort of our leaders and members working toward a common goal,” he stated.
The restructuring was first announced during the PPA-CI Renaissance Day celebration in Songon M’Bratté on May 16, where Gbagbo outlined plans to modernize the party’s structure for improved functionality and impact.
