Legal representative denies san mouhamadou mentioned maxime eko eko in statement
In a formal right of reply, attorney Mélissa Nyoth, acting on behalf of client Sani Mouhamadou, has categorically refuted allegations linking him to a controversial statement involving Maxime Eko Eko and state institutions.
Background of the dispute
The response follows a press release circulated on social media by legal representatives of Maxime Eko Eko Léopold, dated August 9, 2026. The document challenges claims made by Sani Mouhamadou in an earlier statement released on August 5, 2026, where he referenced the Direction Générale de la Recherche Extérieure (DGRE)—a Cameroonian intelligence agency—as one of several government bodies that allegedly engaged his services and network in 2020.
In their rebuttal, Eko Eko’s legal team contends that:
- Sani Mouhamadou approached Eko Eko first, seeking an audience to offer his services;
- He failed to provide verifiable credentials or official titles;
- The DGRE reportedly dismissed his technical proposals and discontinued all contact.
They further assert that no formal request for information or contractual agreement exists between the parties.
Sani Mouhamadou’s rebuttal and evidence
In response, Sani Mouhamadou clarifies that his original statement aimed solely to correct misinformation after videos surfaced on July 24–25, 2026, which he claims tarnished his reputation. Crucially, he denies ever naming Eko Eko in the process.
He points to a documented exchange on February 1, 2020, at 7:09 AM, where Eko Eko allegedly messaged him with an urgent request for assistance: « XXX… I urgently need your help …XXX ». This, he argues, proves Eko Eko initiated contact, contradicting the subsequent denial of their professional interaction. Additionally, Mouhamadou cites his certification from the Institut des Hautes Études de Défense Nationale as proof of his expertise.
Following the circulation of Eko Eko’s press release, Mouhamadou attempted an informal resolution to rectify the misinformation, but received no response. Now, he insists on the immediate retraction of the disputed communiqué within 48 hours—or face legal action for defamation.
« Despite my respect for Mr. Eko Eko Léopold Maxime, I must defend my professional integrity and honor, » Mouhamadou stated in the response, signed on August 10, 2026, by his counsel, Mélissa Nyoth, a registered attorney with Cameroon Bar Association membership number 2007084229.
