Olympique Lyonnais (OL) will not see their appeal for a rescheduled first Ligue 1 match granted. The French Professional Football League (LFP) has officially turned down OL’s request to postpone their inaugural fixture of the season against Toulouse, set for August 22, 2026.
The Lyon club had sought a delay, anticipating a potentially demanding schedule. Their concern stems from the possibility of participating in a crucial Champions League playoff round, should they successfully navigate the third preliminary stage of the elite European competition. Such a playoff fixture could clash with their domestic commitments.
However, the LFP has maintained its stance, ensuring the Ligue 1 calendar remains as planned. The opening weekend of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 campaign is scheduled to unfold between August 21 and 23, 2026, with OL’s away trip to Toulouse remaining firmly in place.
