In response to this congested calendar, the club’s management officially approached the LFP via written correspondence, seeking a postponement for their inaugural Ligue 1 matchday. Lyon emphasized “the paramount interest of French football” when presenting their case for the schedule adjustment.

However, the LFP delivered a negative response, firmly declining to reschedule any Ligue 1 matches right at the season’s outset. Consequently, Olympique Lyonnais will need to manage this demanding fixture list should they successfully advance to the play-off rounds.
